Over 9,000 Pounds of Frozen Meatballs Recalled Due to “Metal Fragments”
When it comes to making a quick and tasty meal for the family, frozen meatballs have become a popular go-to choice for many busy households. However, a recent recall by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has put a spotlight on the potential risks associated with these convenient pre-packaged products.
The recall, affecting over 9,000 pounds of meatballs, was issued after a customer complaint revealed the presence of metal fragments in the product. The meatballs, which were shipped to Aldi supermarket locations nationwide, were determined to be contaminated with foreign material, specifically metal, according to the FSIS.
The recalling firm, Rosina Food Products Inc. based in Western New York, identified the affected product as Bremer Family-Sized Italian Meatballs with a best-by date of October 30, 2026. These meatballs were produced on July 30, 2025, giving them a shelf life of 15 months. Each package contains approximately 64 meatballs and bears an establishment number of 4286B.
Despite the alarming discovery, Rosina Food Products Inc. prides itself on delivering the number one frozen pasta and meatballs in America. They use original family recipes to supply retailers, foodservice entities, convenience stores, and more.
"There have been no confirmed reports of injury due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury should contact a healthcare provider. FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers' refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase." - FSIS
