Acetaminophen Recall: What You Need to Know

As summer approaches, so do pool parties, playdates, and activities to keep kids entertained. With the noise and chaos that come with these events, headaches are almost inevitable, prompting many to reach for over-the-counter pain relievers like acetaminophen. However, a recent drug recall may have you thinking twice before using that bottle in your medicine cabinet.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall of 4,608 bottles of acetaminophen tablets due to "cGMP deviations." Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) regulations are in place to ensure that products are safe, contain the correct ingredients, and have the claimed strength.

The recall was initiated by Aurobindo Pharma USA Inc, based in East Windsor, NJ, due to consumer complaints of tablet discoloration. The affected product is Acetaminophen Tablets, 325 mg, in 100-count bottles distributed by Amazon.com Services LLC in Seattle, Washington.

The lot number for the recalled product is AEF124004A with an expiration date of 08/31/2026. According to Aurobindo Pharma, the tablets are white to off white, round-shaped, uncoated, and debossed with "N74" on one side.

Amazon.com began shipping the affected batch from 4/18/2025 to 5/8/2025. The FDA has classified this recall as a Class II risk, meaning that the use of the product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.

Aurobindo Pharma has received reports of adverse events associated with the recalled product, prompting the voluntary recall. Consumers who have purchased the product can return it by completing and returning a Product Return Response Form provided by the company.
