If You Bought These Supplements From Walmart or Amazon, They’re Now Under Recall for Contamination Concerns
In a world where dietary supplements are a popular choice for consumers looking to address health issues, it is crucial to stay informed about recalls that may impact your well-being. Today, the focus is on a specific supplement aimed at alleviating bladder problems, a condition that affects millions of Americans. The American Urological Association reports that around 33 million Americans suffer from overactive bladders, while nearly 30 million experience urinary incontinence. As such, seeking guidance from a healthcare provider before trying a supplement like cranberry could lead to relief for those dealing with these issues.
However, recent news from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has brought attention to a nationwide recall of an over-the-counter pill that may have been purchased by consumers from two major retailers—Walmart and Amazon. The FDA alert on October 28 reveals that a specific lot of MyBladder dietary supplements, manufactured by Purity Products in Plainview, NY, has been recalled across the U.S. due to potential contamination with Escherichia coli O7:K1 and 1303. The affected lot, identified by the following details, includes 150 CC bottles containing 60 clear capsules with brown powder, packaged in white HDPE bottles with white caps and labeled with lot number 03042517.
The FDA warns that both strains of E. coli bacteria found in the supplements pose a risk for gastrointestinal or other infections. Symptoms of an E. coli infection may include diarrhea, stomach pains, cramps, low fever, and loss of appetite. Vulnerable populations such as babies, young children, older adults, and immunocompromised individuals are particularly at risk for these infections.
The contamination concern was initially discovered through routine testing, with additional investigations suggesting that a temporary change in suppliers led to the issue. The recall is being conducted as a precaution to ensure consumer safety. Consumers who have purchased the affected product are advised to discontinue use immediately and return it to the original place of purchase for a full refund. Alternatively, they can safely discard the product. If anyone experiences unexpected side effects after using the supplement, it is recommended to seek medical advice from a doctor or healthcare provider.
In conclusion, staying informed about product recalls, especially with dietary supplements, is essential for safeguarding your health. Be cautious when purchasing such products and always consult with a healthcare professional before adding any new supplement to your routine. Your well-being is paramount, and taking proactive steps to ensure the safety and efficacy of the products you consume is crucial.
Remember, your health is your most valuable asset, so stay vigilant and make informed choices when it comes to your dietary supplement regimen. Stay informed, stay safe, and prioritize your well-being above all else.
