"New Grains Gluten-Free Bakery Recall: Allergens Alert on 16 Products"

Popular Bakery Products Recalled Due to Undeclared Allergens

Approximately 32 million Americans, both adults and children, are estimated to have at least one type of food allergy, according to health experts. With such a significant number, it is not surprising that many companies have been working diligently in recent years to provide food options that are free of common allergens, such as milk or soy.

For those looking to avoid gluten, including the three million Americans with celiac disease, finding delicious bread and baked goods is easier than ever. However, a popular gluten-free bakery is currently facing an issue with other food allergens, prompting a recall of several products. So, it might be a good idea to double-check your bread, croutons, bagels, and cookies this weekend.

A recent report by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall of 16 New Grains Gluten Free Bakery products. These items have been found to contain three undeclared food allergens, which are eggs, soy, and milk.

The FDA warns that individuals with allergies or severe sensitivity to eggs, soy, or milk are at risk of experiencing serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products.

New Grains Gluten Free Bakery, based in Spanish Fork, Utah, initiated the recall on May 8, upon discovering the potential presence of allergens in its products.

The recalled bakery items were distributed to retail stores across Utah between April 7 and April 21. The packaging typically includes the labels "gluten-free" and the brand name "New Grains," with various color schemes such as red, purple, orange, blue, green, or pink.

While the FDA report does not specify the exact number of products involved or the specific locations where they were sold, it is worth noting that products from New Grains are commonly found in stores like Walmart and Amazon, among others.

On their official website, New Grains emphasizes their commitment to delivering high-quality, healthy, and delicious gluten-free products to restaurants and grocers nationwide. They have listed retail locations in 18 states on their site.

The range of recalled products includes bread loaves, bagels, cookies, and more. Here is a list of the specific products and the allergens contained in each, as provided by the FDA:
