"FDA Recall: 67,000+ Cases of Deodorant Pulled Nationwide"
Why Pay Attention to Your Skincare Products?
In recent years, there has been a growing awareness of the ingredients used in beauty and wellness products. This scrutiny has intensified, especially after the FDA recalled certain skincare products due to the presence of undesirable chemicals earlier this year. Concerns about the potential link between cancer and deodorant, antiperspirant, and shaving products have also been raised, with 90% of Americans expressing worry about this issue, according to WVU Medicine. However, the American Cancer Society has stated that most studies have not found a direct link between antiperspirant use and breast cancer development.
The Latest Deodorant Recall
For those who prefer to err on the side of caution when it comes to selecting skincare products, a new nationwide recall alert has been issued, focusing on certain types of deodorant. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently announced the recall of 67,214 cases of Power Stick antiperspirant deodorant due to potential manufacturing issues. The specific types of deodorant included in the recall are Power Stick for Her roll-on Antiperspirant Deodorant Powder Fresh, Power Stick Invisible Protection Roll-On Antiperspirant Deodorant Spring Fresh, and Power Stick Original Nourishing Invisible Protection Roll-On Antiperspirant Deodorant.
The FDA's report cited "cGMP deviations" as the reason for the recall, without further detailing the specific deviations. CGMP, or Current Good Manufacturing Practice, regulations are in place to ensure that products are safe for use and contain the ingredients and strength they claim to have.
